The event “Capital for innovation and growth – The new Basket Bond Piemonte model and the FI4INN project”, organized by Finpiemonte S.p.A. and the Piedmont Region, was held with strong participation.

The event marked the official launch of the Basket Bond Piemonte, an operation designed to support Piedmont SMEs in accessing capital markets through bond financing instruments. It is the first transaction of this kind carried out in Piedmont, with Finpiemonte acting as a territorial anchor investor for €7.5 million.

The Piedmont model foresees the structuring of a territorial basket bond with a total amount of up to €75 million, through the issuance of minibonds by Piedmont SMEs and midcaps. The basket bond may benefit from the intervention of the Special Section of the Central Guarantee Fund and will be structured by Sinloc Investimenti SGR, in collaboration with ADB Corporate Advisory S.r.l.

The co-investors Mediocredito Centrale, which will subscribe 50% of the portfolio value, and Finpiemonte, acting as territorial anchor investor with €7.5 million, together with the use of the portfolio guarantee of the Special Section of the Central Guarantee Fund, represent a key element of the operation, strengthening its financial sustainability, risk profile, and attractiveness for institutional investors.

A further distinctive feature of the operation is the support of the Piedmont Region, which provides issuing companies with a non-repayable grant to reduce the costs of issuing and placing the bonds (with a call opening on April 7).

The President of Finpiemonte S.p.A., Michele Vietti, opened the event, emphasizing “Finpiemonte’s role as an institutional investor, through channels alternative to bank lending, with successful experiences such as the Piemonte Next Fund for start-ups and the Relance Fund for companies in difficulty but with sustainable business plans. The Basket Bond Piemonte operation fits into this virtuous path to continue supporting the territory.”

Regional Assessors Elena Chiorino and Andrea Tronzano expressed great satisfaction with the Basket Bond Piemonte operation, which provides Piedmont companies with an additional tool to finance growth and innovation in a competitive environment.

The General Director of Finpiemonte S.p.A., Mario Alparone, highlighted the innovative nature of the structure compared to those already developed in other regions: “Thanks to Finpiemonte’s coordination and the collaboration of public and private operators, it has been possible to define the first Basket Bond operation in Piedmont, fully leveraging the tools available at regional and national level, also thanks to the coverage provided by the Central Guarantee Fund of Mediocredito Centrale and without the need for regional guarantees.”
